We’ve moved our blog permanently

Sorry we haven’t updated in months, we’ve been inundated with On A Rail:Europe and a few other projects. The good news is that we have a new website and we are getting back on the blogging-thanks for reading and continually checking back.

Vimeo and YouTube are officially battling it out for video quality supremacy on the Internet. YouTube is clearly the winner as far as audience goes, but, for a long time Vimeo has had better quality and embedding-but, not anymore. A few weeks ago some figured out you could hack YouTube’s embed code to the high quality. YouTube was testing these features, however, they are now official and released. For any video that is uploaded in high enough quality you can embed them in HD. Some are saying the the quality is better than Vimeo becuase of the coded YouTube uses is superior (YouTube is using a h.264 while Vimeo uses a flash encoder). Here’s a music video that we worked on with DPO productions-Butch Walker’s The Weight of Her starring Taryn Manning. Hope you enjoy.

One of the companies that our sister company, Koerce Media, works with a lot is a social networking webpage caled Mojo often hosts social events at various locations and asked one of Koerce’s artist, Rogan, to come down and help out on a live mural painting. We followed to shoot a time-lapse. Hope you enjoy.

Butch Walker Music Video

November 1, 2008

We helped out our friends at DPO Productions shoot a music video for Butch Walker earlier this week out in Joshua Tree. The shoot was great and it turned out really well. Butch is a Grammy winner for song writing and produces for acts like Avril Levine and P!nk. We are editing the video now and will post it when we’re done.

Hossegor, France

October 10, 2008

We have been posted up in Hossegor, France for the last few days and a short stint in Portugal. The train rides are long but thats all part of it-thats what were doing. The waves have been good and we’ve gotten some great stuff thus far, but the best is yet to come. We are expecting a new swell to arrive soon and hopefully will seek out a couple of secret spots before our next destination, the Mediterranean.

We are having a great time and this project should turn out great.

New Project in Production

October 2, 2008

We are starting a new project today. We have just flown to France and will be running around Europe for the next two-and-a-half weeks. Dylan Graves and I are going to get some shots in Paris and tomorrow we will take the train down to Lisbon, Portugal to meet up with the rest of our crew.

We’ll make updates as much as possible. The next one will have some pictures.

New West mini music video

September 30, 2008

Here’s another video we did for New West. This is a performance-only video, kinda like a mini music video. We shot it the same time we did the montage for them and it was a pretty interesting shoot. Anytime you try and fly under the radar with tons of production equipment, 15 person crew and blasting amps in a small, very old apartment building in Los Angeles you can expect confrontation. One neighbor came up yelling at us because the guitar amps woke him up at 12:30 in the afternoon-apparently this guy’s got a lot going on. Another neighbor came up to roof pretty pissed off at 10:30 that same night. It was on a Sunday. Hope you enjoy.

Visual Petition

September 21, 2008

Pro surfer Dave “Rasta” Rastovich is truly an activist. He, along with some friends, have started a very unique campaign to stop international whaling-specifically off the coast of Japan and Norway. Thus far the Visual Petition have had thousands of entries. Celebrity participants include Kelly Slater, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Adrian Grenier, Andy Irons, Mick Fanning, Taj Mahal and many more.

Tar Productions produced and edited this short piece to help get the word out there. The VP team took it to Chile this past June and showed it to a panel at a huge international whaling convention. We had a lot of fun doing it and hope you enjoy it.

New West Montage

September 17, 2008

We did some stuff for a band out of LA called New West. They are a young, very talent group of guys who play jazz music (really) but are extending the genre in ways never before. This video serves as an introduction to the band and gives you a personality behind them.

Tennis Commercials here!

September 16, 2008

We’ve embedded these commercials in High Quality here so you don’t have to go find it…
